In Japan you can see many weird and bizarre signs in public spaces. This is one the most strange we have ever seen.

The sign can be seen near the town of Karuizawa, which is in the Nagano prefecture (much like a large district). It was set up there by a local volunteer group to warn drivers from hitting frogs on the road. The nonprofit animal protection group Picchio, hopes it will cause the drivers to pay attention and drive slower during this time of the year which is the mating season for the frogs.

Let’s all wish that every frog will find it’s soul mate this season!

Not the usual stuff we get from Japan, but any change is welcome. The Mainichi reports today that three guys and a girl tried to make a adult film in a McDonald’s restaurant in the Saitama Prefecture (kind of a district). (Why not just film in a Mom or a maid cafe?)

The happy foursome were Kunikazu Ishii (52), the director, Nahoko Shimada (21) an actress at night, dental nurse at days. The two male actors were Yuya Ochiai (29) and Makoto Nishizumi. They were all arrested for indecent exposure.

A customer reported to the police on the enthusiastic film makers after he saw Ochiai and Shimada getting into the store together holding hands. He suspected something was wrong because “..Ochiai didn’t look the type good enough to pick up a woman (Shimada) like her”. Makes you wonder how come a McDonald’s customer knows what’s good for a adult movies actress. Or maybe he just recognized Shimada and thought that due to her acting skills, she deserves better.

An adult film maker explains to the paper that this is the sign of tough times. Adult movies in Japan had used to get budget of around 1 million yen ($9,500), but this days the budget get only up to 300,000 Yen ($2,800). With these kind of tight budgets the film makers have to cut on costs, and they are filming anywhere to avoid the cost of hotel rooms or a studio. As we already know, it’s even hard to film in Japanese toilets since you’ve got some nasty things going on there.

But filming an Adult movie at McDonald’s may also have other benefits. In the recent month McDonald’s in Japan introduced some really big meals like the MegaMuffin, MegaMac and MegaTriaki. Any chance the film actor (which is paid considerably less compared to the actress, according to Mainichi) just want to supersize his “whopper” to Mega?

Strange Maid cafes are out, mom serving you cake – in. It appears that geeks in Japan are bored with the Anima and Manga cafes all around them, and quick entrepreneurs cashing on this desire.

The new Mother cafe in Osaka is offering it’s customers “mom-like” experience from the waitresses. The are greeted in friendly tones, can feed you, listen to your troubles. Even though that some of the “mom’s” are 19 years old only, the owner of the place promises that they “look older than their age” and capable of “understating people worries”.

We will not be surprised if will see the adult version of this soon. Where Otaku (Japanese geeks) will get spanked if they will not finish their meal.

If you thought that recycling garbage, paper, plastics and electronics covers about everything – well, prepared to be surprised.

The Fukuoka municipal government in Japan decided to recycle used dentures (false teeth) . Around the city will be designated boxes where people can throw away their old dentures. If you think that with this new recycling effort you will be able to get dentures for cheap – you are out of luck. The teeth will be send to recycling factories where precious metals can be extracted from the used teeth. You can find metals like gold and platinum in false teeth and dentures and that’s mean money.

The project administration estimates that each set of teeth can be worth $30 of precious metals. Consider the natural habit of the Japanese to recycle, and you’ve got a gold mine in your hands. But this time it’s for a good cause: The money collected from recycling the teeth will be donated to UNICEF.
